I use a variety of mediums in my work-from acrylic and oils to gold leaf and collage on stretched canvas or board.

My faith is intrinsic to my painting.

I completed a Fine Art degree at Cardiff School of Art and

have mainly exhibited work in South Africa and the Uk including the Welsh Arts Council and the South Bank Centre London

Something about my work...

I believe There's a still small voice within all of us that longs to be heard. For me, it seems to become more audible when i stop and look. From the most wonderful to the most ordinary and mundane of objects a conversation is prompted that speaks of something more.

Meaning and metaphor come from this place of looking.

"Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or word

Their voice is never heard" Psalm:19

I often look at the everyday things I find around me and paint something of what i see, finding significance and whimsical wonder in the ordinary.

in the same way, When I am doing a commission I will prayerfully consider my client and create something, from what I hear for them.

Other times I begin a painting by spontaneously putting paint on the canvas -I love colour and texture and delight in playful mark making.

the process of painting is a joy in and of itself.

I might start with nothing much in mind but as i spend time looking at the colours and marks that i've put on the canvas, I will often see a glimpse of something that i then pull out of the paint.

Michelangelo said:

"Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it. I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."

I love this.
